The 15th of Shvat is the Tu Bishvat holiday, a biblical New Year used as the birthday for determining the age of fruit trees as they relate to tithing expectations. Its celebration has been a journey from jubilation before the Lord and communal responsibility to planting parsley in Styrofoam cups in synagogues across America. How do we reclaim relevance to this holiday in the midst of a New England winter?
Ganei Beantown has three opportunities for you to celebrate with us.

Come for the mixology; come for the drinks + nosh representing the seven species of Israel; and come to learn about four local organizations working to strengthen our local food system and access to healthy food. In keeping with the biblical tradition of counting the fruit-tree tithe from the 15th of Shvat, a portion of the cost of the evening will be donated. Please RSVP.
Sponsoring organizations: Aviv Centers for Living, NSJCC, Temple Beth Shalom, and Temple Ner Tamid. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to: Beantown Jewish Gardens; Haven from Hunger; Family Table program of JF+CS; the Serving Ourselves Farm at Long Island Shelter.
